Day 18 June 6 Biduedo to Vilei

Accomodation tonight - Casa Barbadelo, Vilei

Miles walked - 5.5

We cheated a bit today. Planned to take a bus to Triacastela then starting to walk, but the bus driver gave us a ticket to Sarria. Since we paid and had not slept well last night (won't recommend Casa Quiroga to anyone) - food was terrible and bed worse. The radiators were on and we could not turn them off. All rooms are in the basement and owners live upstairs. Noise from above until very late and dogs barking everywhere in the village. So when we realized that the bus driver had charged us for Sarria, we opted to go there and spend the day before walking to Vilei. It turned out to be a good choice as Ann-Marie was not feeling well from food or water, who knows. We explored Sarria, getting some cash as we only had 20 euro left, having breakfast, visiting a monastery, farmers market and lunch. We arrived at Casa Barbadelo just before an incredible downpour, watching Pilgrims walking by drenched. We have a nice room overlooking beautiful pastures. There is even a pool here, however it will be doubtful we will get in it as we continue to watch the rain.

Sarria, the last official starting point to qualify as a Pilgrim and be awarded a certificate of completion, the Compostella. Pilgrims must walk at least the last 100 kilometers to Santiago de Compostella.

Monasterio de lla Magdalena
Beautiful stone floor in the Monasterio.
St. James, the Pilgrim.

Main santuary of the Monasterio.
Coffee anyone?

How true. A good rule to live by.

On the wall in Matias Locanda Italiana - John's contribution to all the wall art left by pilgrims.

An old stone bridge on our way to Vilei.
Wildflowers on the Way

Trust the arrows. Even though the book indicates we past the turn!

Resting after the walk in the latest Fred Flintstone Collection of lawn furnishings! Right outside our room.

Buen Camino
