Day 16 June 4 Villafranca to Las Herrerias

Accomodation tonight is El Capricho de Josana

13.6 miles today, mostly on a side road and thru a few quaint villages.

This morning's breakfast at the Hotel San Francisco, was very inadequate for the day ahead; coffee, hard toast and some jam and it was the most expensive yet

This was our least favorite day so far. The personality of the people today was different; loud and cold. Didn't see any familiar faces today.

Finally we reach our destination and a bull, 3 cows and 2 calves greet us at the hotel. Seeing the entrance, we were a little stressed, but decided not to judge the book by the cover. After all of the arrival necessities, we went for the celebratory brew! We were advised that the dinner service would not begin until 9pm; way past our bedtime. Our day tomorrow starts with a 2000 ft climb in 8.5 km, so we ate the big pilgrims menu at 5pm.

We vegged the rest of the day and got the blog caught up. Also, we checked our itinerary sheet to be sure we were on track and had all rooms reserved. Annie made me call ahead to confirm tomorrow's accommodation. My pigeon Spanish is getting so good that my call was successful!

Before retiring, we walked, yes walked more, to the Dairy Queen (the Bar) for an ice cream. We met a guy and chatted a while and he told us that Jack Daniels name is Teoman; Turkish!

We have a very nice room here overlooking a cow pasture and mountains.

Buen Camino

Hey Pilgrims,
How're the travels? Sorry breakfast was less than adequate this morning. That's a shame that the fellow travelers/towns folk were so distant and uncool. Those beds look comfy. I wish y'all the best for the 2000 ft elevation gain tomorrow. I hope the crowd is pleasant for a change.
