Madrid to Burgos
What can I say, flights to Europe from the US are full of too many movies and too little sleep! But, we made it. We had a short lay over in Newark Aeroporto after a rather fast and white knuckle smoking brakes stop to apparently make a quick turn off the runway; time for a snack and off to checkin, everyone was lined up and anxious to board and get settled in. Then the gate attendant announces that the Captain is missing!! 30 minutes pass and still no Captain; speculations were flying thru the crowd: Is he in the bar, stuck in traffic or just forgot it was not his day off??
With no explanation, we were called to board. Wondering about the Captian, he made an announcment that he had been in the cockpit for 2 hours and did not know who the "brain surgeon" was that did not know it! I thought he sneaked in the back way to avoid any embrassment. Arrived on time in Madrid and made our way on metro and Renfe train to Burgos.
Only one "oh shit" so far! John thought he forgot the Camino Guide book. However after much fretting and sweating, he found it in the bottom of his pack.

Bon Camino
